HEALTH SCIENCE - 5551 Advanced Healthcare Applications (HS 2) (Period 4th Block)

Course Description

Course Description: Health Science 2 applies the skill and knowledge learned in Health Science 1 while further challenging the students to learn more about the healthcare field.  The students will advance their study in advanced infection control agencies like the CDC and OSHA, learn HIPPA, how to take vital signs, recording and documenting data, life stages, review of law and ethics, concepts of teamwork and effective communication, medical terminology, math and language, pharmacology, fundamentals of wellness, including current AHA Healthcare CPR certification and First Aid training. This course provides the foundation for further advancement in the Health Science Program.   The skills and knowledge that students learn in Health Science 2 serve to prepare the student for future clinical experiences, such as job shadowing and hands on clinical experience, as they advance in the Health Science courses.
 

Pre-requisites: Successful completion of Biology 1 and Health Science 1 – Foundations of Healthcare Professions and Stop the Bleed Certification
