New Varsity Boys' Head Basketball Coach

Cheraw High is thrilled to announce Tyrone Harrington's appointment as the new head coach of the Varsity Boys' basketball team. With a proven track record of success, Coach Harrington brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the program.

 

Coach Harrington joins Cheraw High basketball and has over ten years of coaching experience at Marlboro County High and Cheraw High. He graduated from Marlboro County High School in 2009 and Winthrop University in 2014, where he majored in Sports Management; known for his exceptional leadership skills and strategic acumen, Coach Harrington has consistently demonstrated the ability to develop and maximize player potential, leading teams to numerous victories.

 

“We are incredibly excited to reintroduce Coach Harrington to the Cheraw High family,” said Principal Harold Palmera. “After an extensive search, it was clear he possesses the vision, dedication, and expertise needed to elevate our basketball program to new heights. We are confident that under his guidance, our team will compete at the highest level and embody the values and integrity that are core to our organization.”

 

In addition, Coach Harrington is also known for his commitment to player development both on and off the court. He emphasizes academic excellence and community involvement, ensuring that athletes are well-rounded individuals prepared for success beyond basketball.

Outside of basketball, Coach Harrington is the Head Girls’ tennis coach and a Computer Science Teacher at Cheraw High. He’s also the husband of his beautiful wife, Kenya, and the father of his precious daughter, Joanna.
