About our school

Cheraw High School is a comprehensive high school offering a variety of courses, Career and Technology Education programs, and extracurricular opportunities to help students reach their full potential. Cheraw High offers two foreign languages, Advanced Placement courses, and Career and Technology course offerings in Agriculture, Health Science, Accounting, Web and Digital Communications, Business Information Systems, Building Construction, Electricity, Manufacturing, and Programming and Software Development. Our school also has a Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (MCJROTC) that prepares students for leadership and service. These course offerings provide a rigorous curriculum to challenge students and provide them with skills needed to advance their interests and passions into college and the careers of the 21st century. Our school emphasizes literacy and writing skills to foster higher-level thinking and problem-solving abilities. Teachers employ a range of interactive strategies to enhance student engagement and learning. Our teachers work diligently to ensure all students have the opportunity to discuss their progress toward our school goals. Students and parents have the opportunity to discuss their progress toward graduation and career goals as they create their Individual Graduation Plans. As they formulate this plan each year, students and parents receive invaluable information about careers, college requirements, and course offerings to help them prepare for their future. Cheraw High offers a number of extra-curricular opportunities to empower students to learn more about teamwork, interpersonal skills, work ethic, and perseverance. Some of these opportunities include sports, clubs, band, and service learning. These opportunities are important as students learn about their community, our world, and how to make a difference. Our school is involved in numerous projects, including Relay for Life, blood drives, Adopt-a-Highway, and many more. These projects are beneficial to our students as they grow and mature into responsible citizens. Each year presents its share of opportunities, challenges, and achievements. As we collaborate with all stakeholders, we will continue to improve, explore new ways to enhance our approach, and take the lead in preparing all students for their respective futures.
