October begins the financial aid application season which involves making decisions about paying for college. Students are encouraged to complete the online FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and submit the application to the US Department of Education. Eligibility for federal student aid is based upon information on this form. In addition, many colleges and technical schools use this for their own financial aid purposes. After the FAFSA form is finalized, students should contact the school or schools where they are applying to determine financial aid options. South Carolina Tuition Grants Program - needs based grants awarded to qualified SC residents who attend eligible SC independent colleges. Apply annually by submitting the FAFSA (available online at www.fafsa.org )

Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest. Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors webpage are able to vote for submitted entries. One winner is chosen each month. Palmetto Fellows Scholarship - 3.5 GPA, ranked in top 6% of class, 1200 SAT or 27 ACT (all criteria must be met).
The South Carolina Association of Counties Board of Directors scholarship will be available in guidance and is currently available online at http://www.sccounties.org/scac-scholarships . It will be awarded to one resident of Chesterfield county who is planning on attending an in-state school. Deadline to apply is TBA.
The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship and is now available online at www.hsfmo.org

The South Carolina Association of Educational Office Professional Marian Garrett Student Scholarship is available in the guidance office. This is for students who are pursuing a career in business. The deadline is TBA.
The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholarship is now available in guidance. It is for students who played 2 sports for at least 2 years. The application is due in the Guidance Office by March 25, 2024.
The Robert E. McNair Scholarship is now available. This is Francis Marion's top full ride scholarship. The deadline is TBA. Application details can be found at https://www.fmarion.edu/financialassistance/scholarships/
The Coulter-Long National Alumni Association, Inc. Scholarship will be available in Guidance. The deadline is TBA.
Pee Dee Medical Professionals Assoc., Inc. (PDMPA) Healthcare Scholar application will be available in the guidance office. This scholarship is designed to encourage and increase minorities in the Pee Dee region in healthcare professions. The scholarship is paid directly to the the educational institution (seniors) or summer academic enrichment program (juniors). Deadline is TBA.

McLeod Regional Medical Center has established a Health Education Assistance Fund. It is available to students who are planning to study for a health related career. Applications will be available in the Guidance Office. Deadline for submission TBA.

Erskine Presidential Scholarships are available to students who plan to attend and have been accepted to Erskine College. Deadline is TBA. Apply online at www.know.erskine.edu

The CTEA (SC Career and Technology Education Administrators Association) Scholarship is awarded to seniors who are also a career and technology education completer. If you are interested in applying, please see one of the CTE teachers or you can pick an application up in guidance. Deadline is TBA.
The Goeffrey Kier Memorial Athletic Excellence Scholarship is available in the guidance office. This scholarship is available to student-athletes. The deadline is February 19, 2024 and must be emailed to [email protected] .
The Lambda Iota Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc Essay Scholarship is available in the guidance office (and also Google Classroom). This scholarship is available to male students. It is due April 30, 2024. Address/email for submission is on the application.
The Churches United Scholarship will be available in guidance. Deadline is TBA.
The Future Educator Scholarship given by the Chesterfield County Administrators Association is available in the guidance office. The scholarship is presented to one 2023 Chesterfield County graduate who plans to enter into the field of education. The award is $1000 and the winner will be recognized at our annual Administrators Association meeting held in the spring. The deadline is TBA.
The Anne B. Crawford Career and Technology Scholarship is available in the guidance office. Deadline is TBA.
SCAEAP (SC Association of Extension Administrative Professionals) scholarship is be available in the guidance office. This scholarship is available to students who are pursuing a career in the secretarial science, computer science, or business management field. Deadline is March 8, 2024.

Hampton Wildlife Fund Scholarships are now available online. https://hamptonwildlifefund.org/scholarships/
Four different scholarships are offered. The deadline for all four is January 31, 2024.
1. Harry Hampton Scholarship - This is for students in the natural resources disciplines of wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, marine or environmental science. Four years, $5000 per year
2. Wallace F. Pate Scholarship - This is for students in the natural resources disciplines of wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, marine or environmental science. One year; $2500
3. David M. Cline Scholarship - This is for students who wish to further their education in law enforcement, criminal science, or forensic science. One year; $2000
4. James O. Thomason Scholarship - This is for students who wish to further their education in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations, or mass communications. Four years; $2000 per year

The Chesterfield County Farm Bureau Scholarship application is available in the guidance office (and Google Classroom). This is for students planning to pursue a career in agriculture. One scholarship will be awarded at each high school in the county. The deadline is April 1, 2024.
The Southeastern States Pupil Transportation Conference (SESPTC) scholarship will be available in the guidance office. This is for students whose parents have been employed in public school transportation for the past three years. The deadline is TBA.
Jane Edna Hunter Scholarship is available online at https://app.smarterselect.com/programs/83419-College-Now-Greater-Cleveland This is for women under the age of 30 pursuing an undergraduate degree that are residents of SC. Deadline is TBA.
Arbor One scholarship application will be available in the guidance office. This is for students planning to pursue a career in agriculture. It is due TBA.
Omicron Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority scholarship application is available in the guidance office. Application deadline is March 29, 2024.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority scholarship application is available in the guidance office. It is due TBA.
James L. Streater Memorial Scholarship application will be available in the guidance office. It is due TBA.
John A. Kendall Scholarship will be available in the guidance office. Preference is for a senior interested in economics, political science, or history. $1000 per year. Deadline is TBA.

The SCEA-R Scholarship application is available in the guidance office. This is a $4000 (over four years) scholarship for students attending a four-year college and planning a career in education. Deadline is March 22, 2024.
Hade E. Robinson/CHESCO Services Scholarship for $1000 will be available in the guidance office. Applicants must be students who have an interest in working with the special needs population in human service areas such as special education, psychology, sociology, social work, or other related fields. The application is due April 1, 2024.
SC Coaches Association of Women's Sports Medical and Education Scholarships will be available online and in the guidance office. Each scholarship is worth $1000. One will be awarded to a female planning to major in the medical field and the other will be awarded to a female planning to major in education. The Duncan Morrison Scholarship will be available in the guidance office. This scholarship is sponsored by the Great Pee Dee Devil Dogs, Detachment 1219, of the Marine Corps League and is available to graduating seniors who are members of JROTC and have been accepted to a 2 year or 4 year state supported college or university.
